Margie Fraser

Physiotherapist

Margie grew up in Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) and trained at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. After graduation she returned to Zimbabwe to work in government hospitals for 6 years, rotating through the various medical specialities and gaining broad experience to consolidate her training.

After the arrival of her children, Margie returned to part time work in private practice incorporating both hospital inpatients and clinic-based outpatients, as well as learning the administration side.

This was valuable when she had the opportunity to open her own practice in 1991, initially as a sole practitioner, but over time the practice grew to include two other physiotherapists.

Margie was an active member of the Zimbabwe Physiotherapy Association and for many years attended and helped to organise the professional development courses run by the association, frequently hosting the international presenters – including some Australians. She has been fortunate enough to attend international conferences, and associated courses, in South Africa, England and Japan and more recently two Australian Physiotherapy Association conferences.

Margie enjoys being able to help people relieve pain and restore normal function by educating them about the problem, using physical modalities from the ‘toolbox’ of techniques and providing a tailored home exercise program. She takes a holistic approach and has a special interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation and musculoskeletal problems, working towards self-management.

Margie and her husband moved to Australia in 2014 to join their children who had attended university in Perth and had settled in the country. They moved to South Gippsland in 2016 to be closer to their

daughter and family.

When not working Margie enjoys the outdoors, gardening, taking their dog for walks and spending time with family and friends.
